My name is Jeff Wasserman and I am a Master Life Coach and a Professional Massage Therapist. I am the founder of Life Coach College, a leading coach training organization. I have personally seen the massage profession grow in many ways, first there was the independent therapist who struggled with so many calls from people looking for less than ethical massages. Then came the day spas, offering relaxation massages at high prices, unfortunately most day spas are not known for their high pay.

Now comes a new wave of massage businesses, the price killers, like Massage Envy, based in Scottsdale Arizona, which is franchising large massage locations across america. Offering 1 hour massages for $39 and with a membership, as low as $29.95. It does not take a genius to figure out that unless you reposition yourself, you might find that marketing your practice will even be harder. Basically they come into a city and promote price, which dilutes the available client pool. You will never be able to compete on price, as a small operator, look at Best Buy and Circuit City, how many small electronics retailers do you still see. How about Blockbuster, how many small video shops are left? Yet you see a subway on every corner, why? National brand name recognition. National advertising and marketing programs.

Now add to that over 51,000 current students in massage training. So I began to see a trend, the price of massage is headed down, not up. The competition is going to get tough. Just think about how the local hardware store felt when they watched Home Depot grow from coast to coast.

So what is the answer?

1) Reposition yourself as a total wellness center. Offer something unique.

2) Improve your marketing. Join a national marketing program like Motivational Massage.

3) Offer something that Massage Envy does not offer. Motivational Massage is Mind & Body Care, offering Life Coaching and a new bodywork modality.

Before I started out on this journey, I spoke with hundreds of massage therapist who shared with me similar stories. Marketing, marketing and more marketing. It took a lot of time and a lot of money. Most of all, it took support and persistence.

I spoke with students at several massage schools, they all had similar concerns, how will I ever open a new location and succeed. Basically the odds are against you. Unless you have time and patience to build up a new business, you will get discouraged. Soon you will find yourself working for someone else.

After thousands of hours of thought, I think I have the greatest, most exciting massage marketing concept ever offered. This is not an e book or weekend seminar, this is an on-going licensing & marketing concept.

The cost is $495 and includes use of the name and logo. For example, if you locate in St. Louis your name would be Motivational Massage - St. Louis # 1101.

You will be required to be a certified life coach, which requires 16 weeks, 2 nights a week for 90 minutes each night. The fee for Life Coach College is $2,495.

Once you open you will be provided with a great deal of publicity, marketing material and advertising.

From the time you open, you will be invited to a weekly conference call with the coaches from Life Coach Marketing. New topics will be discussed, you will be able to discuss your issues with other Motivational Massage therapist.

You will receive a great deal of literature or promotional cards each month.

You will receive advertising for your location.

You will be part of a growing team building brand name recognition.

Your location will have the Motivational Massage look and feel.

The ongoing cost is $ 86 per week. This includes local, state and national advertising.

 

Option # 2

You can sign up to be a affiliate, which allows you to offer Motivational Massage in your current practice.

You will receive promotional material.

We will also advertise in a national magazine promoting your business.

You will be provided with a sign to hang in your lobby offering your new services.

You will be listed in Life Care Today, a new publication for our members. You will be invited to our weekly marketing calls.

Total cost for this package is $ 495 and once you open, the cost is $65 a week. This includes local, state and national advertising.
